Patchwork and wrapping

Especially because of the limited availability of British Airways' XXL-bags a creative backup solution with some intuition is needed. Check out your local hardware shop / building supplies store. You should easily find some bubble wrap or good foil for painting and renovation. With this stuff you can cover and wrap sensitive parts of your bike or cover it completely.

This might be the best solution for everybody who really loves to touch his own bike. Depending on how much you want to protect the frame varnish and how relaxed your time management is, you can wrap and puzzle some plastic on every square millimetre around your bike.  But this procedure is not really a safe way for varnish lovers. It's better to watch your brake and gear equipment. It must be safe against other luggage, nothing should get caught in the wires. Wrap your chain, your gear, your breaks. It's very easy to get some bubble wrap or painting canvas cover from a hardware shop. Even if there is no professional stuff available, you can get some plastic bags from a supermarket. It might not be a good solution for our environment, but maybe you can get some used plastic bags or foil from somewhere...
